What a fun Sunday afternoon visit this was! If you're looking for a way to immerse yourself in a little artistic inspiration without a lengthy drive, pricey admission fees, expensive parking or a lot of walking, then this little gem of a museum is your cup of tea!
Rockhounds will love the natural displays of crystalline rocks and minerals that look like jewelry. Also, the artistry of the centuries old carved jade pieces rock the imagination when thinking about how such intricate carving could be done without the advanced tools we have at our fingertips today.
In addition to the permanent displays of Chinese jade that anchor the museum, they also offer such special exhibits as "The Hidden Gems in Cellphones" through 5/24/2026, and opening June 19th is a special summer exhibit, "Enduring Symbols: Liberty Set in Stone." Rounding out the schedule are community music programs, various classes for adults and kids, along with a mining trip searching for moonstone in Wisconsin is scheduled for June 27, 2027. They definitely have a lot going for them.
So, if you only have a few hours of free time and need a shot of inspiration, this quick trip to this boutique-sized museum is the answer!
