It’s hard to say whether Chicago resident, Diane Bronstein, is a teacher first or an artist first because she’s so passionate about doing both! Either way, whether you’re learning from her or purchasing one of her magnificent paintings, you’ll be more than pleased.
Diane’s incredible, global upbringing broadened her vision giving her an eye not just for art but for life itself. Describing herself as an “embassy brat” because of her father’s governmental position and opportunities to live overseas, she talks about European cities as easily as most Chicagoans mention the suburbs. Her best training, she quickly admits, came from the connections she made by associating with street artists in other countries trading secrets and sharing their artistry.
Reflecting on such interactions, she says, “Every culture has its own sense of color and design which is very eye-opening.”
Today, Diane who has always been a free spirit, brings that same sense of non-conformity to her canvases. Painting in acrylic, watercolor or oil, she captures whatever catches her eye and can trigger an emotional response deep within her. That’s how she says she can do her best work.
And how does she describe her art style?
“Because I’m so influenced by the Impressionists, I’d say my work is a combination of modern Impressionism verging into Expressionism.”
Her work has sold worldwide with some very notable clients that include Bloomingdales, Eileen Fisher, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and lobbies of condo buildings and corporate offices across the country.
Depending on finished size, and if it is framed or not, prices can range anywhere from about $250 to $5,700. Her largest pieces, which she especially enjoys creating, are 40" by 60". She's also worked on a myriad of exterior murals that might measure anywhere from 120 feet in length to 60 feet!
Her work is available online and, in many galleries, including:
