ABOUT Mays Mayhew

Mays Mayhew is a contemporary figurative artist celebrated for her masterful, large-scale graphite drawings and striking monochromatic environments. In 2026 she transitioned back to large-scale color-filled acrylic paintings. Through her intricate rendering of the female form, Mayhew’s work explores profound psychological dualities, using repeating figures to provoke introspection and capture the complexities of girlhood. 

Classically trained, Mayhew cultivated her meticulous technique at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and through specialized studies in Renaissance Art in Florence, Italy. This elite foundation, combined with a formidable Midwestern work ethic, informs her rigorous and disciplined daily studio practice.
