Interested in organizing and curating a small exhibit? Good news—Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists has created a new opportunity for our members to present work of up to 4 artists in smaller venues in the Chicago area—the new "Spotlight Series!"Our first Spotlight will be at the North Shore Senior Center in Northfield, IL, in March – April of 2025. The NSSC gallery has space for 3 – 4 artists to display multiple pieces in their well-lit atrium gallery. The NSSC Center and gallery are open to the public Mon. – Fri., 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
CAVA members interested in this new opportunity to be “Spotlight Show Manager" should stop in to see the space and its possibilities for exhibition. North Shore Senior Center (https://www.nssc.org/) takes only 20% commission on any sales.
The Spotlight Show Manager will be responsible for planning and implementing all aspects and communication of the proposed exhibit: submitting the proposal for the show, creating a theme and/or title, choosing fellow CAVA artists, curating the pieces to display, art intake and installation, running a reception, working with the NSSC on any sales, and closing and taking down the show at the end. CAVA will advise and support your efforts with curation guidelines and a “how-to” checklist; promotion on CAVA’s e-news, website, and social media; and reimbursement from receipts for reception refreshments.
Interested CAVA members should send a proposal to CAVA Board Member Charlene Moy at cmoy211@gmail.com. Include the show name/theme, artists, examples of art, and the Show Manger contact information. The CAVA Board Events Committee will select one exhibit from submitted Spotlight proposals. We look forward to reviewing your proposals! ###
