Upcoming Water Street Studios Show Delayed Due to Omicron Surge

According to Patch staffer, Emily Rosca, in her story posted 1-6-2022…

A surge in omicron cases has caused Batavia's Water Street Studios in Batavia, IL to delay the opening of its resident artists’ and teachers’ show. Originally planned for Jan. 14, the exhibit will now tentatively take place Jan. 28.

"This new wave has led to a county infection rate that would essentially guarantee spread at an event of that size," James Tracy, the gallery's executive director, said in a message to the Water Street Studios community Wednesday.

He continued to say he hopes the wave will be short-lived in order to safely celebrate the artists.

To replace programming on the original day of the event, Water Street Studios will host a video event of the resident artists and teachers show for people to experience from the comfort of their homes. More details will be released at a later date.

"It's really unfortunate with how all of this has timed out," Tracy said "After a successful Winterfest, I was looking forward to a showcase of our very talented inner circle."

Water Street Studios, located at 160 S. Water St. in Batavia, will continue to be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
