"Aurora's Resurgence, 20" H x 16" W mixed media on canvas took the artist more than 30 hours to complete.
Congratulations to both the artist and the recipients of Jan Schrader's abstract artwork created expressly for The Neighbor Project's recent April 25th fund-raiser at The Paramount theater in Aurora, IL which offered several tempting items in their silent auction. Jan was the only local artist who donated original artwork.
This riveting piece brimming with brilliant color and organic texture received a bidding war that was fun for participants and profitable for the organization. The Neighbor Project is a non-profit based in Aurora, IL that tackles many systemic challenges blocking homeownership in the area. Artist's Statement:
"I attempted to capture and express the amazing, explosive resurgence Aurora has experienced in the last few years. The multi-colors and varied textures are suggestive of the city's cultural diversity and long, stable history. Various shapes of different sizes denote the renovated buildings, housing units, and thriving new businesses downtown and throughout the city. The red expresses the explosive energy across all sectors; and finally, the city's unlimited potential is represented by the gold." -Jan A. Schrader
