Artist Name: Eve Sofferman

Town: Bartlett, IL

Medium: Oil pastels

Inspiration: Eve is continually inspired by beautiful scenery, especially sunsets. And, if it’s a sunset over water – that’s even better! Whenever visiting favorite outdoor places, she carries along her NIKON camera to snap shots she can later use as reference photos for her work. She especially enjoys lingering beachside taking pictures of the interplay of sky and water until she captures just the right combination. She is a frequent visitor at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL, the grounds and gardens of Cantigny in Wheaton, IL and beaches in Florida or Door County, WI.

Background: Eve grew up in St. Louis, MO and studied costume design at Washington University. After graduation, she designed merchandise displays for department stores. For the past 20 years, she has painted using oil pastels after studying with well-respected oil pastel instructors like George Shipperley. She is married, has three grown children who live in the area, and six grandchildren.

Art Memberships: Wayne Art League, Yellow House Artists, and DuPage Art League.
