“She Thought She Could, So She Did” by Marilyn Dale...Artistic Alchemy is a juried Group Exhibition.

“We know the seductive alchemy of art. To transform private anguish into a narrative of truth, if not beauty; to make sense where there was none; to bring order out of chaos - these are the promises art makes.”

—Kathryn Harrison

The Artistic Alchemy exhibition celebrates the collaboration between North Central College and Arts DuPage, a DuPage Foundation initiative. It features the work of DuPage County artists supported by the countywide arts council and illustrates the abundance of talent within our community.

The exhibit showcases 2D and 3D pieces created by 36 artists selected by a jury based on originality, interpretation of the theme, and demonstration of artistic ability. Medium categories, including acrylic, oil, collage, fiber, photography, and stoneware, are represented, and styles span from whimsical to sublime.

The inclusion of artist statements will give the viewer a rare glimpse into the minds of the artists, whose thoughts range from restrictions and confinement to liberation and resilience. Topics like perceptions, aging, and memories emerged, as did the celebratory lives of rabbits.

Please join us as we reveal these transformational moments in life as interpreted by this extraordinary group of artists.

The public is invited to the Opening Reception on Saturday, June 7, 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
