"Moonlight Embrace" by award-winning, contemporary artist, Jan Schrader, is now on exhibit at Blue Moon Gallery, 18620 Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL. See more of Jan's work below...
The CANVASS JAZZ creations by Naperville, IL artist Jan Schrader are a unique collection of highly distinctive, airy abstract paintings enhanced by eye-catching texture. Beautifully presented, his work features white canvases with shimmering metallic and high gloss paints. Application technique includes brushes and palette knives blending on many layers to create riveting textures -- his "secret sauce" -- and fascinating light play.
Inspired by Zen minimalism, Mid-century design and the jazz music that plays while he paints, his work is like none other.
Jan says, "Why abstract art? I'm a huge jazz fan...To me, abstract art is jazz on canvas. Like jazz, it is limitless and without boundaries. I enjoy engaging in its free form and the ability to be open to creative riffs where I can approach a blank canvas with a basic plan or none at all. However, the best part is making artwork that makes the viewer stop and ponder as well as to enjoy -- that is what makes this endeavor so gratifying."
At the reception, guests will have a chance to meet Jan and experience the vivid visual language of his artistry. Additionally, he will also be on hand to give an informal ARTIST TALK about his work at the gallery on Saturday, July 12, 2025, during regular gallery hours.
The 6/21/25 reception also includes five other artists celebrating their work. The evening's event offers wine, outdoor seating, and a fire pit. Free and open to the public.
EXHIBITION DATES: June 21 TO July 19, 2025
Open Saturdays, 1-4 PM
