Cheryl Holz is a nationally recognized mixed media artist, amateur naturalist, and self-described art material junkie. She grew up in the country collecting moss, bugs, leaves and, to her mother’s chagrin, snakes and salamanders. That rural upbringing remains a major influence on her aesthetic sensibility and artwork. Today, Holz lives and works in Illinois, where she regularly explores local forest preserves with her rescue pups, Max and Duncan, photographing, collecting, and observing the natural world. Her lifelong curiosity and love of discovery fuel an ever-evolving creative practice.

Holz’s work has received national recognition and has been exhibited in museums, galleries, corporations, hospitals, and private collections. When she isn’t in the woods or studio, she can probably be found searching flea markets for the next irresistible art material. ###
